‘Wizkid the Concert’ Makes a Statement

Christmas Eve in Lagos, Nigeria was a little different this year as Wizkid held his anticipated show “Wizkid the Concert” at Eko Hotel. The venue, which has a capacity of 6,000 people, was overflowing with attendees geared up to witness the StarBoy in action on Sunday night.

From start to finish, the crowd sang word for word and danced to classic Wizkid tracks, as the entertainer gave the audience a dynamic performance.

Headlining the sold out show, Wizkid was accompanied by some of the hottest in the Afrobeat industry. Afrobeats top DJ, and Wiz’s right hand man in catering to the audience, DJ Tunez joined him on stage for the night. Maleek Berry, Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Mr. Eazi, Wande Coal all touched the stage, along with Yxng Bane, 2Baba, Phyno, Mayorkun, Skepta, and Lax.

The audience was in for a big surprise when Nigeria’s very own Davido stepped on the stage with Starboy. The two who have never performed together before, entertained the crowd with an unforgettable performance. The undeniable energy filled the room as attendees sang along to Davido’s recent single “FIA”. With this performance, the two put a mark on the Afrobeat industry for what is in store.

Wizkid performed some of his hottest songs including “Final”, “Show You the Money” “Ojuelegba” as well as some of his newer singles like “Daddy Yo”, “This Kind Love” and “Manya”. The sold out event comes two months after his legendary show in London at the Royal Albert Hall.

2017 was a great year for Wizkid as his album “Sounds from the other Side” took the Afrobeat genre to the next level and his featured track  ‘“Come Closer” consistently topped charts. To top it off, he won Best International Act at the MOBO Awards beating out top American acts such as Jay-Z.
