Reaching international acclaim with signature features on Mr. Eazi’s “Skin Tight” and Wizkid’s “Daddy Yo,” Efya is widely regarded as “the female voice of Africa.” Affectionately known as Star Girl, the talented Ghanaian songstress has had some of her recent individual singles fly under the radar internationally.
“Until the Dawn” which was released last summer is a prime example of one of the singer’s hidden gems. Produced by Nigerian/UK star artist/producer Maleek Berry, “Until the Dawn” is a beautiful love song with a lover’s rock-reggae feel.
Featuring immaculate production and crystal-clear vocals, the song is extremely vibey. It’s actually surprising that it wasn’t a bigger hit, especially within the Caribbean diaspora.
Efya sings about being with her lover in every which way until the dawn. Catchy lyrics like ” I wanna make love to you until the morning/Grow old and strong with you until the morning/have a baby boy with you we’ll call him Kwame” is certain to get listeners in their feels.”
Not to mention the melanin magic exhibited in the visual production for the song.
